Privacy Policy

edudestination ("we", "us", "our") operates the website edudestination.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP) and the EU GDPR where applicable.

1. Information we collect

Personal data you provide when filling lead forms (loan, housing, study-abroad, personalised brief): full name, email, phone number, optional loan amount and message.

Authentication data when you sign in via Google to access the Operator Console: your Google email, display name and profile picture.

Usage data automatically collected: pages visited, search queries, AI advisor conversations (stored against an anonymous session id), institution slugs, click events on housing partners, IP address and browser type.

Cookies: an essential session_token cookie for sign-in; analytics and advertising cookies (Google AdSense / Ad Manager) only when you accept the cookie banner.

2. How we use it

  • Match you to scholarships, education loans, housing and study-abroad partners.
  • Generate AI-advisor answers grounded in verified institution data.
  • Improve the Service via aggregate analytics.
  • Serve relevant advertising via Google AdSense / Google Ad Manager.

3. Third-party services

We share lead information only with the verified partner you requested (e.g., a partner NBFC when you submit a loan-eligibility form). We never sell personal data.

Specifically, we use:

  • Google AdSense / Google Ad Manager — to serve advertising. AdSense may use cookies and tracking technologies to show ads relevant to your interests. You can manage your ad personalisation at myadcenter.google.com.
  • Google Gemini (via Emergent Universal Key) — for the AI Education Advisor. Conversations are stored against a session id and used to improve answers. Do not share personal identifiers in chat.
  • Emergent Auth — for Google OAuth sign-in to the Operator Console.
  • MongoDB (hosted) — primary data store.

4. Your rights

Under DPDP and GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or erasure of your data.
  • Withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board (India) or your local supervisory authority (EU).

5. Data retention

Lead form submissions are retained for up to 24 months. Authentication sessions expire after 7 days of inactivity. Chat messages are retained for 12 months for quality improvement, then deleted.

6. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

7. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified by an in-app banner before they take effect.
